How to deal with being a hated minority.

Updated: Jan 8, 2024

By Rochel Grosz | For a lot of us, it came as quite a shock. All those pictures of "Free Palestine" rallies and news reports showing thousands of haters marching in support of Hamas and its atrocities. It was scary. After that, the silence from people who we thought were friends. (Some true friends reached out, true, but the majority of non-Jewish neighbors and other folks did not.) It all feels different now. And it's hard to cope. How to handle this angst? Best is by talking about it, with an understanding therapist, family member, Zoom group or Jewish friend. Because this syndrome happened suddenly after Oct. 7th, 2023, it rose up like a tidal wave all around the world seemingly at once and left traumatised Jewish people standing soaking wet, washed up or staggering on the shoreline in disbelief that Never Again became Now Again.
